Grand Theft Auto has always been a franchise that likes to bathe itself in controversy, shower off in heated debate and deodorize in wild accusations. Whether it’s the blatantly amoral game play or the amazingly unsexy hot coffee debacle, GTA has proved again and again that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Gamers on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are eagerly anticipating the most recent installment from the GTA series after this season, and as soon as the actual sequel to GTA III, the amazingly-named GTA V launches (there have been many spin-offs since GTA III, such as Liberty City Stories, etc). The web was living with down loaders lately when Rock Star finally allowed players their first summit at the match in the form of a teaser trailer.

City politicians were aghast at the concept of a bit of fiction depicting violence on the streets on New York, seemingly being ignorant of pretty much the whole job of Martin Scorsese. Grand Theft Auto in the safest large city in the United States would be like placing Halo in Disneyland, said City Councilman Peter Vallone, chairman of the Council’s Public Safety Committee to The New York Daily News. He is not the only one to have a go, either. Spotting a chance to appear great, a spokesman for the mayor had a go too: The mayor doesn’t support any video game where you earn points for killing or injuring police officers. Oddly though, New York City hasn’t appeared to have had a issue with movie companies setting their violent and action thrillers from town, with streets closed for the Die Hard 3 movie, for example. All This criticism, Naturally, dismiss the whole it’s fiction character of the game which contributes to the question of whether future novelists, film makers, animators, artists and games companies will be requested to not show the town together with any violence in it.

Concerning the trailer itself, there is not a sign of violence. It is undeniable that the game comes with a fictionalized version of NYC. Since theĀ gta 5 mobile trailer in P3Zine, the free PlayStation 3 magazine reveals, but game commentators are theorizing that GTA V will feature more realism and less violence without consequences, as Rock Star has allegedly been speaking to ex-cops about how much tougher organized crime is to eliminate these days. Rock Star has repeatedly pushed GTA V using the tagline Things will be different a phrase echoed by the primary character in the trailer, but it seems that criticism of this franchise isn’t going to some different this time around, beginning before the match has even appeared. It’s not likely to damage sales.
